MEASURING INSTRUMENT FOR STEP OF DISCONTINUOUS PART OF SURFACE OF BODY TO BE INSPECTED

PURPOSE:To measure the step of a discontinuous part present on the flank of a support part of a body to be inspected by taking a measurement by the same operation procedure with the last operation after swiveling the support part for the body to be inspected and changing its direction. CONSTITUTION:A fuel assembly 6 is supported upright by the support part 5 for the body to be inspected and a support mechanism 11 and then swiveled on its axis through the operation of the support part 5 so that the object inspection surface of the assembly 6 faces correctly a measurement unit 9. Then, the address of the presence position of the discontinuous part of the fuel assembly is specified on the basis of the presence position which is already known and inputted on a keyboard. Consequently, an up-down moving mechanism 10, a lateral moving mechanism 19, and a front-rear moving mechanism 25 are moved along right-angled coordinate axes X, Y, and Z under the positioning command of a controller 34. Then, the head 15 is so moved remotely as to approach the specified discontinuous part. Thus, the step of the discontinuous part present on the flan of the support part 5 is measured.
