An improved coin and token collection and return device for public telephones is disclosed, comprising a coin and token store 19, consisting of a rotating drum 20 with a plurality of radial through grooves or spaces 22 of controlled aperture, for containing a corresponding plurality of coins and tokens, motor means 23-24 for producing controlled angular displacements of the drum for the purpose of bringing, during the filling operation, each of the spaces in line with a first coin and token feed channel 17, connected to the opening for the insertion of the coins and tokens and, during discharge, the space containing the generic coin or token selected by the collection system, in line with a second discharge channel 33 and means of closure 28 controlled by at least one actuator 32 energized by the collection system, and by the return system for obtaining the opening, during the collection operation, of each of the selected spaces and in the return operation of at least one portion of the remaining accommodation spaces.
