TITLEPROCESS FOR SURFACE IMPROVEMENTOF SURPRINT PROOF WITH TRANSPARENTIZEDPARTICULATE MATERIALABSTRACT OF THE INVENTIONProcess for modifying the tacky surface of asurprint multicolor proof having at least twononplanar, nonsilver halide colored photoimagedelements bonded to a support and an outerphotosensitive tacky layer whereby at least oneparticulate material, 0.1 to 20 µ average particlesize, having an oil absorbtivity of at least 30% byweight based on the weight of particulate materialdetermined by Gardner-Coleman Method, ASTM D-1483-60treated with at least 5% by weight of atransparentizing oil liquid having a boiling pointgreater than 100°C whereby the treated particulatematerial is applied to the tacky surface and theexcess material is removed. The proofs obtained areexcellent matches to press proofs on various surfaces.
