An electrical actuator for a motor vehicle speed control or regulating system has an electric motor (1), a transmission (2) connected to it with an electromagnetic quick disconnect coupling and elements for converting the rotary movement of the transmission into a linear movement. The linear movement can be transferred to a spring-loaded throttle valve using a cable. In order to convert the rotary movement into the linear movement, a threaded spindle (3) is provided which is rotatably connected to the gear (2) and which engages in a thread of a displaceably mounted electrically excitable pot magnet (4). The pot magnet (4) is opposed by a linearly movable anchor plate (6) on which the cable (7) is attached.
