This system is characterised in that all the equipment 11, 13, 17, 18; 21, 23, 27, 28 of a same terminal 1, 2 are connected to the latter's telephone line 3 by a common communication interface 4, 5 incorporated with this terminal, in that this interface 4, 5 comprises means for switching each item of equipment onto the telephone line 3 and in that means are provided in each communication interface 4, 5 such that the switching of a terminal 1, 2 onto a given item of equipment causes the switching of the other terminal 2, 1 onto an item of equipment which is identical or complementary to this given item of equipment. Each communication interface 4, 5 comprises an internal signalling system which may for example be formed by a modem capable of being connected up to the telephone line 3 of the communication interface 4, 5 when switching onto a given item of equipment.
