The invention relates to contraceptive compositions that protect against hormone-dependent cancers of the breast and endometrium, containing an oestrogen combined with a progestogen. According to the invention, the dose of oestrogen is a minimal dose for effecting anovulation, and the dose of progestogen is such that the ratio of the true biological efficacy of the progestogen to that of the oestrogen is 1.5 to 3 times as high as in traditional contraceptive products.
