A rotary hermetic compressor including a bell shaped housing (12) and having an end wall (80) which also forms the end thrust plate for the compressor cylinder (68) and the crankshaft (30). The suction line (88) is connected directly to the end thrust plate (80) and the end thrust plate also includes oil passages (100, 102) for conducting oil from an oil sump (106) to an axial bore (56) in the crankshaft (30) for lubrication of the crankshaft bearings (64).
