Wooden post protective disc - has concentric sawtooth section ribs on underside pressing fibres towards centre during hammering

The protective disc is for use when hammering wooden posts home, its bottom face comprising concentric ribs (3) of sawtooth section turned towards the outside. These are driven into the wood and press its fibres towards the centre, at which there is a small hole (4) in the disc, with a deep counterbore (5) extending from the top face. This allows the disc to be temporarily secured to the post by a small nail. USE - Protects post from splitting during hammering home, while counterbore gives enough free movement to allow easy removal of disc afterwards.
