Method and device for camouflaging and for reducing the infrared radiation from water craft

A method for camouflaging and for reducing the infrared radiation from water craft, in which water, preferably seawater taken from the vessel's surroundings, for example from greater depths, is pressurised and then atomised outside the vessel in such a way that a coherent camouflage cover matching the outline of the vessel is formed. It is characterised by the atomisation of the water being done in such a way that a layer of very fine water droplets is formed, and by this layer of water droplets being exposed to a current of blown air at an angle to the layer immediately after being atomised, so that the layer is dissolved into a sort of fog. The temperature and pressure or amount discharged of the water and of the current of blown air are adapted to one another according to the laws governing humid air (i-x diagram) in such a way that complete saturation of the current of blown air is always achieved in all operating conditions.
