EARTHQUAKE-PROOF CONSTRUCTION OF RIVER EMBANKMENT

PURPOSE:To inhibit a liquefaction phenomenon, and to prevent sand ejection and the ground crack of an embankment body by using a sheet pile, to a sheet pile wall of which a hole section draining under-ground water in a sandy soil layer at the time of earthquake is formed. CONSTITUTION:A perforated sheet pile 5 is employed on a boundary section between a river embankment 1 and a river bed 3 on a sandy soil layer 2 so as to interrupt the sandy soil layer 2. A concrete foundation 6 to a slope pavement 7 as a low-water revetment is shaped to the upper section of the perforated sheet pile 5, and filling 8 is executed between the consolidation of the foundation 4 in the upper section of the foundation 6 and the slope pavement 7. The consolidation of the foundation 4 is installed at the end section of the river bed 3 as required. A corner section with a water-side small stage 10 is shaped by concrete 9 for proper biting to the ground of both ends of a revetment in the upper end of the slope pavement 7, a concrete foundation 6' supporting a slope pavement 7' as a high-water revetment is mounted on a boundary between the water-side small stage 10 and the slope pavement 7', and a perforated sheet pile 5' supporting the concrete foundation 6' is further set up.
