PURPOSE:To perform the Fourier transform, which takes much time, in real time and to obtain a standardized average power spectrum image of high resolution by providing a specific means which processes the output from a television camera whose light receiving face is arranged in the image forming surface of a telescope. CONSTITUTION:Images picked up by the television camera which has the light receiving face arranged in the image forming surface of the telescope are successively taken into a frame memory and are converted to still images, and these still images are not only stored in a spatial optical modulating tube but also read out by the laser beam and incoherent images are converted to coherent images. Coherent images are optically subjected to Fourier transform to obtain power spectrums, and they are added and accumulated on the frame memory with respect to respective still images and are divided by the preliminarily taken-in power spectrum of a reference start. Thus, much Fourier transform is performed in real time, and double starts are observed in a short time by division based on the reference start, and the standardized average power spectrum image of high resolution is obtained.
