PRODUCTION OF ALUMINA FIBER PRECURSOR AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled precursor having a fine denier of a sufficiently small diameter, by dry spinning an aqueous spinning solution containing aluminum oxychloride, PVA and a water-soluble inorganic polybasic acid or salt thereof under specific condition. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous spinning solution, containing aluminum oxychloride, PVA and a water-soluble inorganic polybasic acid (preferably phosphoric acid, boric acid, etc.) or salt thereof and having 200-5,000 P viscosity at 20 deg.C is extruded through a nozzle plate 2 (having plural spinning holes with =0.3mm nozzle hole diameter and =4mm distance from the center of a hole to that of the adjacent holes) of a spinning solution discharging part 1. The resultant extruded filaments are then passed through a spinning stack 3 and dried to afford the aimed precursor of an aluminum based filament yarn having a fine denier of =10mum diameter.
