A B S T R A C TCUTTING DEVICE FOR PAPER AND FOIL WEBS, PARTICULARLYFOR PRINTERS, PLOTTERS, COPIERS AND SIMILAR MACHINESThe cutting wheel (40) is rotatably guided in a cut-ting carrier (50), and under the force of a springacting axially against the cutting rail (50) so thatthe cutting wheel (40) is pivotable out of a neutralstarting position plane parallel to the cutting rail(50), by an angle (.alpha.max) corresponding to the maximumadmissible cutting angle between cutting wheel (40)and cutting rail (50). Depending on the force (FF) ofa spring (46), the cutting resistance (Fw), and thefrictional force between cutting wheel (40) and cut-ting rail (50), the cutting wheel (40) adjusts itselfautomatically to the respective cutting angle (.alpha.s).The pivoting range for the cutting wheel (40) extendsin both directions, so that the cutting device actsin both directions of movement of the cutting carrier(26).
