The invention relates to a parallel crank mechanism for driving two overhead camshafts per cylinder bank of an internal combustion engine, preferably with four-valve system, in which an eccentric disc of each camshaft and the eccentric disc of a drive shaft are coupled to one another by a one-piece connecting rod and each eccentric disc is rotatably mounted in annular bearings of the connecting rod, the bearing of the drive shaft eccentric disc being arranged in the same housing part as the bearing of the camshafts and the bearing wall for the said eccentric disc at the same time forming the bearing wall for the eccentric discs of both camshafts.
