In a baking and roasting oven with additional microwave device a temperature sensor which projects into the cooking space has to be arranged so as to be screened with respect to the influence of microwave energy to prevent microwave energy leaving the cooking space. The cooking space (1) of the baking and roasting oven has one or more temperature sensors which project into the cooking space (1) and are arranged in a manner guided in a sensor pocket (3). The sensor pocket (3) is preferably produced from a perforated metal plate, metallic tissue or the like. The material of the sensor pocket, which is transparent for thermal energy but opaque for microwave energy, screens the temperature sensor with respect to the influence of microwaves and at the same time ensures good thermal coupling under the influence of thermal energy.
