A hollow box shaped unit (12, 14) for a suspended ceiling is dimensioned to fit into a cell of similar proportions within a lattice framework (26) suspended by hooks (36) from the fixed ceiling members. The lattice is made up of inverted T section rails (26) and each box unit is hung by suitably shaped lugs (20) so that they form collectively a complete ceiling surface when fully installed. The system permits the insertion of successive units (20) into their cells in an essentially vertical direction and a degree of flexibility in their wall (12) construction assists this operation. USE/ADVANTAGE - Units can be entered into cells with min. of manipulation. Method is particularly convenient for wall side and corner assembly. Transparent units form lighting apertures. Lighting cables can easily accommodated. Modular structure facilitates replacement and change. Inexpensive, secure against displacement by wind pressure or vibration.
