P-1009INDIRECT COLORIMETRIC DETECTION OF AN ANALYTEIN A SAMPLE USING RATIO OF LIGHT SIGNALSABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe method of the present invention employs anenzyme immunoassay for measuring the concentration ofan analyte in a sample by indirect colorimetricdetection. An incident light beam at a plurality ofwavelengths is directed into a liquid solutioncontaining an analyte of interest. The solution iscapable of attenuating the amount of light at a firstwavelength received from this solution as a functionof the increasing concentration of the analytepresent. A light signal from the solution at thefirst wavelength is detected, and light at a secondwavelength, at which substantially no attenuation oflight signal occurs as the concentration of theanalyte increases, is also detected. The ratio of thetwo respective wavelengths is formed and that ratio iscompared with ratios of known amounts of the analyteto determine the amount of the analyte in the sample.
