The invention relates to an integral device for filtering and degassing a supply fuel for an internal combustion engine comprising on the one hand a settlement tank (10) which contains a filter cartridge (16) and on the other hand a cover body (12) fixed tightly on the settlement tank and fitted with a fuel inlet pipe (24) ending outside the filter cartridge, a fuel outlet pipe (26) which passes inside the cartridge and a return pipe (34) to the gas reservoir ending outside the filter cartridge and in which is fitted a valve (40). A counter- balanced spring (46) normally retains the valve (40) in the open position whilst the settlement tank contains gas, the latter escaping towards the return pipe to the reservoir (34) across a low-load-loss duct which bypasses the valve, whereas when the settlement tank is entirely full of liquid fuel the valve is drawn towards a closed position.
