A hand-held blower/vacuum device (1), especially suited for yard or garden use, has an air chamber provided with an axial air inlet (3) and a tangential air outlet (5). A handle includes a first portion (7) which extends generally parallel to the axis of the air outlet (5), and a second portion (8), which is inclined at an angle to the first portion (7), and is generally below the level thereof. A throttle trigger (9) is disposed between the first and second handle portions (7) and (8). In use, the handle may be gripped in a first mode by the generally horizontal first handle portion (7), whereby the device (1) is suitable for vacuum operation (Figure 2). In a second mode, the second handle portion (8) is gripped, whereby the device (1) is suitable for blower operation (Figure 1).
