The vehicle brake unit has a tandem master cylinder (2) and pressurised brake booster (1) operated via the brake pedal to an input link (3). The input link is connected to an intermediate piston (16) by way of a force transmission element (23). In the region between the force transmission element (23) and the intermediate piston (16) there is an elastomeric compressible element (32). The compressible element passes through a helical spring and has a series of cupped springs (33) at one end. USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved pedal operation for vehicle braking system.
