PURPOSE: To quickly and stably identify a finger print by establishing a numerical table for analyzing an image. CONSTITUTION: In the structure of the finger print image processor, a numerical table expressing the directions of a raised parts of a finger print included in respective domains from horizontal and vertical directions is established from the binary image of the finger print decomposed to respective domains, a neumerical block including a domain string having the maximum number of domains in which a corresponding value expresses the vertical direction of a raised part is selected from the table and a ratio between the number of values expressing the vertical direction of the 1st block and the number of values corresponding to the horizontal direction in the block is compared with a prescribed reference value to identify the finger print.
