Protective cover device for circular saws

The saw blade (22), protruding upwards above the table (21), of the circular saw (2) is rotatable about its axis (222); material to be cut (3) can be brought up to its front side (221) in the feed direction (Z). The protective cover (16) constructed as an extraction hood covers the saw blade (22) in the rest position and rests on the table (21). The protective cover (16) can be lifted by a lifter (131) from this rest position into various height positions and held in such a way as to be supported there. If material to be cut (3) is pushed in the feed direction (Z) over the table (21) and thereby butts against the intake side (162) of the protective cover (16), the protective cover (16) is raised upon further feeding of the material to be cut (3). If, however, the protective cover (16) is held by the lifter (131) so high in a height position that it is not touched by the material to be cut (3), then the protective cover (16) remains there, so that it does not touch the workpiece. This is desirable with sensitive material to be cut (3). Thus, there is the advantage that the protective cover (16) can rest against the table and the workpiece for optimal protection appropriate to the conditions and for optimal extraction, unless said workpiece makes necessary a contact-free raising of the protective cover (16).
