摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain an ingot having fine equiaxed crystal grain structure and a reduced pore size by braking the convection flow of molten alloy with a static magnetic field. ;CONSTITUTION: The magnetic field of a field coil 7 is formed as almost parallel to casting direction in a chill mold 1. The magnetic field is constituted so that the molten alloy is passed through at ≥ about 20° angle α on the boundary surface 15 of the liquid-solid mushy zone 13 from the liquid zone 16 and on the boundary surface 12 of the solid zone (solidified ingot) 14 from the liquid- solid mushy zone 13 to each magnetic flux line 11 in the magnetic field. Electromotive force is generated in the molten alloy flowing down so as to cross the magnetic flux in the magnetic field and the troublesome convection flow in the molten alloy can be reduced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
