PURPOSE: To make unnecessary the execution of a receiving and changing member receiving axial stress of a tunnel after the completion of primary lining, to make it possible to shorten a constructional program and to reduce a number of installation rows of permanent columns and a number of upper and lower projections of them to effectively use an inside section of the tunnel by coupling segments with each other to form an axial beam member of the tunnel. ;CONSTITUTION: An intermediate section of a composite section shield tunnel and an overlap are constituted of upper and lower intermediate segments 4a and 4b as a D-shaped section forming hollow sections 7 between horizontal sections 5 of the inside of a tunnel and circular sections 6 of a bedrock side. The upper and lower intermediate segments arranged in the axial direction of the tunnel are respectively connected to each other and, at the same time, permanent columns 21 are provided between the horizontal sections of the upper and lower intermediate segments in proper positions.
