PURPOSE: To obtain a method of forming a chirp lattice to the surface of clad layer of surface radiation distribution feedback semiconductor laser device. ;CONSTITUTION: A first flat wave surface is formed, through a first slit 32 of a baffle 28, from the flat wave surface deformed by lenses 17, 22 from a monochromatic optical beam, a cylindrical wave surface is formed with a cylindrical lens 26 and a second slit 30 to generate destructive interference between the flat wave surface 36 and cylindrical wave surface 34 with a right-angled prism 44 in order to form a monochromatic chirp lattice pattern from this interference for projection to the surface 48 of a material 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
