PURPOSE: To impart high toughness to the above electrode by specifying the contents of the alloy elements to be incorporated into a coating material and core wire, thereby lowering the oxygen of a weld metal without impairing characteristics, such as high strength and high-temp. creep rupture strength equiv. to the properties of a 9Cr base material. ;CONSTITUTION: This coated electrode is constituted by coating the outer periphery of the steel core wire with the coating material contg. metal carbonate, metal fluoride, arc stabilizer, slag forming agent, and binder. This low hydrogen type coated electrode for welding the 9Cr steel is constituted by incorporating 0.1 to 10% Mg2Si into the above-mentioned coating material and selectively incorporating C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, and N into both or either of the above- mentioned coating material and steel core wire and incorporating one or ≥2 kinds of the elements consisting of a group Ni, V, Nb, and W therein.
