Use of a porous material consisting essentially of polycrystalline calcium carbonate such as three-dimensional solid support for in vitro cultivation of eukaryotic cells, the material being, for example consisting of porous coral skeleton; and cell culture product obtained, consisting of such a porous support occupied by eukaryotic or prokaryotic cells. It can also be successively growing layers of different cells on the support. Application in particular to the culture of endothelial cells, fibroblasts and bone marrow cells.
