The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a coating composition which comprises coating a polymer film with a mixture of siloxane monomer carboxylic acids in an alcohol solvent and evaporating said solvent to complete the formation of Si-O-Si bonds and then polymerizing the coating To a method of controlling the opacity of an organic polymer film to a gas such as oxygen, direction, flavor, and aroma to produce a gas-impermeable organic polymer film by grafting onto the polymer film. Also provided is an improved coated polymer film and a compounded product thereof.
