The checker brick, such as for regeneration chambers for glass kilns, is shaped so that the remaining side surfaces of the tongues are chamfered to run on to each other. Pref. the remaining side surfaces of the tongues form a common edge, with an equal chamfering, or the surfaces can be chamfered differently. The cover surface is offset from the base surface. One of the remaining side surfaces is an extension of the cheek surface of the shaped brick, and the other has the same positioning as one cheek surface of a shaped brick above it. The tongue height equals 0.3-1.0 times the cheek thickness, and the height of the opening is less than 1.5 times the cheek thickness. ADVANTAGE - The brick structure allows them to be assembled together easily, without allowing particles from the exhaust gas to build up on the tongues, which would affect the thermal transfer action.
