A process and device (13) are disclosed for controlling and regulating the supply of detergent to a dish-washer (1). The process works with a control and regulating device (13) that carries out a in-depth washing cycle besides the normal cycle. The same detergent is used during the in-depth washing cycle as during the normal cycle and the detergent is supplied by means of the same dosing device (100) during the normal cycle and the initial washing cycle. For the same detergent to be used in the normal cycle and in the in-depth washing cycle, the concentration of detergent supplied during the in-depth washing cycle is many times higher than during the normal cycle. The cycle to be carried out is selected by depressing a selection switch.
