The trailer (2) has two wheels (4,6) steerable by a mechanism (14) driven by two hydraulic cylinders (12) fed via a positioning valve (10) from an electric pump (8). The computer (30) calculates the required steering angle for the wheels from measurements of the setting of the steering wheel and the angle between the tractor and trailer. The road speed of the vehicles, their load and/or the deg. of damping in the steering also may be taken into account in the computation. ADVANTAGE - Vehicle benefits from good riding and roadholding on curves, with min. complexity of forced steering.
