In receiving the reply signal, a data set ready signal DR or in receiving a carrier, a carrier detection signal CD is changed to logical 1. In receiving either the data set ready signal DR or the carrier detection signal CD, a control section 154 sends s reply signal to a central controller 13, then the data communication with the data terminal equipments 2, 8 is started.
