IMPROVED SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING THE GROUND SPEEDAND DIRECTION OF TRAVEL OF AN OFF-ROAD VEHICLEAbstract of the DisclosureAn improved system for controlling the ground speed anddirection of an off-road vehicle having systems forestablishing and returning a variable speed transmission tothe neutral position, an improved pedal system interconnectedto the neutral location and return system for driving thevehicle in either the forward or the reverse direction. Thepedal system includes a forward and a reverse pedal which arepositioned on the vehicle so that an operator moves the toe ofhis foot in the direction that he wants the vehicle to move.The forward pedal is positioned closer to the front of thevehicle than the reverse pedal. An additional aspect of oneembodiment of the present invention includes aninterconnection cam means for operatively connecting the pedalsystem, the brake system and the neutral location and returnsystem so that upon actuation of the brake system, theinterlock system is operable to return the transmission toneutral and with the park brake engaged, allow an operator todismount the vehicle with the engine running.
