ABSTRACTThis invention is a process for the chromato-graphic separation of a fluid mixture in which the mix-ture is contacted with an ion-exchange resin, elutedthrough the resin under conditions such that the rateof passage of one component of the mixture through theresin bed is retarded relative to the rate of passageof a second component of the mixture, and a firstproduct stream rich in said first component and asecond product stream rich in said second component arerecovered. The invention involves the use of an ion--exchange resin made from a copolymer which is preparedin a multi-stage polymerization process. The use ofthis resin is found to provide fast separation kineticsand increases the overall speed and efficiency of theseparation. This invention is particularly suited forfructose/glucose separations in the preparation of highfructose corn syrup.
