Chromatographic separation of components of a multiple component fluid mixture using a simulated moving bed process comprises changing the concentration of the fluid mixture and/or composition of the solvent in a timing unit
Chromatographic separation of components of a multiple component fluid mixture (2a) using a simulated moving bed process comprises feeding the fluid mixture and a solvent (3a) into a number of chambers of chamber sections at first and second inlets (9b, 9d, 9f, 9h), and removing an extract stream (6a) containing at least one component from the mixture and a raffinate stream (7a) containing a further component of the mixture. Chromatographic separation of components of a multiple component fluid mixture (2a) using a simulated moving bed process comprises feeding the fluid mixture and a solvent (3a) into a number of chambers of chamber sections at first and second inlets (9b, 9d, 9f, 9h), and removing an extract stream (6a) containing at least one component from the mixture and a raffinate stream (7a) containing a further component of the mixture from the chambers or chamber sections at first and second outlets (9a, 9c, 9e, 9g). The chambers or chamber sections are connected in series. The concentration of the fluid mixture introduced and/or the composition of the solvent can be changed in a timing unit. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for carrying out the process.
