Low pollution coking system - has chamber walls heated directly by coking chamber gas combustion

In a coking system with horizontal coking chambers indirectly heated by adjacent side heating walls, devices for drawing chamber gases from the coking chambers and devices for supplying gas and combustion air to the heating walls and for withdrawing waste gases, the novelty is that (i) vertical closable connection channels (1) are provided in the oven roof in the region of the chamber ends and are in communication with transverse channels arranged in the oven battery length direction in the oven roof directly above the coking chamber; (ii) the transverse channels are connected to the heating walls via vertical closable connection channels (4); (iii) the heating walls consist of vertical heating flues (8) which are connected, at their upper ends to a horizontal channel oriented in the oven length direction for regular gas distribution to the individual flues, and (iv) vertical header channels with raised outlet slits, located between the flues for supplying combustion air to the flues. ADVANTAGE - The chamber gas can be supplied directly, without intermediate gas cleaning, to the heating system for combustion and is not combusted in the coking chambers. The system can be used in modern coking chambers of more than 6m. height while minimising emission of pollutants (CO, NOx).
