PURPOSE:To produce the title PVD raw material having high purity and dense and uniform texture, free from segregation, bubble and void, by melting a powdery mixture of an oxide superconductor (or its precursor), slowly cooling the molten mixture, forming into a prescribed form and heat-treating the product. CONSTITUTION:A powdery mixture produced by compounding and mixing an oxide superconductor (or its precursor) is melted by heating in an atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of =5atm. at =1,250 deg.C, cooled to =950 deg.C at a cooling rate of =10 deg.C/sec in an atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of =5atm. and formed into a prescribed form. The formed product is cut into two or more plates and heat-treated at 400-950 deg.C for =10min in an atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of =0.2atm.
