DIAMINO-S-TRIAZINE COMPOUND HAVING CARBAMOYL GROUP AND METHOD FOR CURING EPOXY RESIN WITH THE COMPOUND

PURPOSE: To obtain a new diamino-s-triazine compound having a carbamoyl group in the molecule and useful as a curing agent and a curing accelerator for epoxy resins. ;CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (R₁ is CH₂CH₂, 1,3-phenylene, 1,4- phenylene; R₂, R₃ are H together, or one of the R₂, R₃ the other is methyl), e.g. 2-aminoethyl-carbamoyl-ethylene-(4',6'-diamino-1',3',5'-s-triazine)-(2'). This compound is obtained by thermally refluxing 1 mole of a diamino-s-triazine compound of formula II and 3-10 moles of a 1,2-diamine compound of formula III in the presence of monomeric sulfur and subsequently boiling the obtained compound of formula IV in water. A one pack epoxy resin composition using the compound as a curing agent is excellent in storage stability at room temperature, and the employment of the compound as a curing agent or a curing accelerator for epoxy resins gives a cured product little in curing contraction and having excellent toughness.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
