PURPOSE: To obtain a new fish sexual gland-stimulating hormone comprising a polypeptide extracted from the hypophysis of a Perciformes fish, capable of being widely applied to Osteichthyes Teleostei fishes, and useful for highly efficiently producing seeds and larval on the culture of marine fishes, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: The hypophysis of Thunnus obcsus, an Osteichthyes Teleostein fish, is ground in a solution containing 35% of ethanol, etc., and subsequently extracted with stirring. The extracted solution is centrifuged, and the supernatant is collected. The supernatant is mixed with ethanol, and the produced precipitates are centrifuged. The separated precipitates are redissolved and subsequently purified by an anion exchange column chromatography, a high performance liquid chromatography, etc., to obtain a fish sexual gland- stimulating hormone having an amino acid composition (%): Cys 11.2, Asp 8.7, Glu 8.7, Ser 7.7, Gly 7.1, H is 3.6, Arg 3.6, Thr 5.6, Ala 3.6, Pro 6.6, Tyr 5.6, Val 6.6, Met 2.0, lie 6.2, Leu, 3.1, Phe 3.3, Lys 5.1; a mol. wt.: 30000-40000; solubility: easily soluble in water; saccharide content : approximately 20%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
