PURPOSE:To obtain a novel film-binding polypeptide (fragment) having a specific amino acid sequence, related to programmed death of human cells and useful as a therapeutic agent for infectious diseases, lowering or sthenia of immune function, tumor, etc., and its homologue. CONSTITUTION:A new film-binding polypeptide (PD-1) containing an amino acid sequence expressed by the formula I, related to programmed death of human cells and useful as a therapeutic agent for infectious diseases, lowering or sthenia of immune function, tumor and its homologue. This PD-1 is obtained by integrating DNA coding PD-l containing a base sequence of the formula I and the formula III into a vector to introduce into a host cell and manifest the vector. DNA coding PD-1 can be utilized for detection of PD-1 gene, studies on relationship between the gene and in vivo defense function, immune function or disease such as tumor and PD-1 can be utilized as a diagnosis and a therapeutic agent for PD-1-related diseases.
