PURPOSE:To obtain a new peptide produced from the endothelial cell of human umbilical vein, having a specific amino acid sequence and useful e.g. as a preventing and treating agent for immune diseases caused by the adhesion of platelet, leukocyte and macrophage and diseases participating in thrombogenesis. CONSTITUTION:This new peptide is produced from the endothelial cell of human umbilical vein, has an amino acid sequence of the formula and is useful as a preventing and treating agent for immune diseases caused by the adhesion of platelet, various leukocytes and macrophage and diseases participating in thrombogenesis such as rheumatism, allergy, arteriosclerosis, rejection after organ transplantation, myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction or resultant perfusion disorder, DIC and sepsis or as a screening system for the prevention and treatment of these diseases. The polypeptide is produced by extracting gene from the endothelial cell of human umbilical vein, separating mRNA from the gene, producing cDNA using the mRNA as a raw material, determining the base sequence of the cDNA and expressing the gene in a host cell using a gene recombination technique.
