a process for preparing a composition soluble in oil is described.the process consists of preparing a monothiophosphorique of dihydrocarbyle acid, characterized by the formula (i), wherein r1 and r2 are each independently hydrocarbyles group containing 1 to about 30 carbon atoms, and x represents oxygen or sulfur, co ndition that x represents sulfur, reacting (a) an ester of phosphorous acid in the structure (ii)with (b) a source of sulphur, in the presence of (c) a catalytic amount of a r3conr4r5 amide structure, in which r3.r4 and r5 are each independently hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group of from 1 to about 30 containing an ethoxylated amide carbon atoms or of structure (iii), in which the sum of x and y is between 1 and 50; and isolating the reaction product obtained.
