Abstract of the DisclosureIn a radio communication network system for usein carrying out communication with a plurality of radiotelephone sets in a service zone by the use of a controlchannel and a plurality of speech channels, a connectingequipment unit (CE) is selectively operable incooperation with a radio control unit (RCU) in a speechmode of forming a speech path through a selected one ofthe speech channels and an additional mode ofselectively monitoring the control and the speechchannels. The additional mode may be divided into firstand second control modes for allowing and rejectingreception of a call with the control channel monitored,respectively. Alternatively, either a rest mode or acombination of rest and initial program loading modesmay be added to the additional mode. A plurality of theconnecting equipment units may be located in a singleservice zone and selectively put into the speech and theadditional modes with only one of the connectingequipment units kept in the first control mode.
