Apparatus and method for the processing of analog electrical signals within a digital measuring instrument

The invention concerns a method and device for processing analog input signals inside a digital measuring apparatus. In industry, there are a plurality of sensors which deliver analog electric output signals representing very different physical values which have to be displayed and/or evaluated by automatic control systems. However, the association between the analog electric sensor signals and the physical measured value is not always directly proportional (linear) and does not always have the same zero point. Therefore, the object of the invention is to convert the signals before they are displayed and/or evaluated. The invention proposes digitally inputting the conversion function: output value = f (input value) in the form of value pairs of selected function values (break points, intermediate values, initial and final values) of the function into the measuring apparatus where they are permanently stored. For evaluation, the analog input signal is linearly interpolated between the adjacent value pairs, before display or preparation for further processing.
