The invention relates to a case made of cellulose or similar recyclable materials in particular for keeping spectacles, writing and drawing utensils and/or other articles of essentially elongate design, which case consists of two halves (2, 3) which can be connected to one another, are essentially of equal size, and enclose a hollow space, the first half (3) having a shoulder (4) which is formed at least in partial regions and is preferably formed integrally with the first half (3) and can be inserted in the part of the hollow space of the second half (2) in such a way that a frictional connection is produced between the shoulder (4) of the first half (3) and the inner surface (11) of the second half (2). A case of this type, which can be produced cost-effectively and has an increased stability against damage, in particular in its end regions (5, 6), is provided in that both halves (2, 3) are formed with at least one reinforcing device (12) which covers partial regions of the inner surfaces (11) in the end region (5, 6).
