The invention relates to an operating mechanism for a packaging device provided with a dispensing member, such as a piston pump, actuated by a push-button. It essentially consists of a closed fluid-tight elastic casing (9) comprising two compartments (9a; 9b) communicating with each other, the first compartment (9a), of larger cross-section, being accessible from outside of the packaging device so that it can be compressed by a user such that it undergoes an elastic deformation resulting in a reduction in its internal volume, the second compartment (9b) being placed in the vicinity of the push-button (3b), supported on the latter, and capable of being deformed elastically under the effect of internal excess pressure, undergoing an elongation guided along a direction corresponding to the axis of the push-button (3b), the said elongation provoking an axial displacement of the said push-button.
