Air-surface telemeter for aircraft positioning relative to surface target

An aircraft is equipped with a navigation system (20) and a radar (21) which is protected by a dome (23). A discrimination circuit and a computer (25) control the radar. A transparent screen is placed in front of the pilot and illuminated by a projector (28) which displays information related to the aircraft flight. The discrimination circuit directs the radar beam under the computer control and indicates its direction with a reticle visible on the screen. The radar signals which are received are processed by the computer which can maintain the beam orientated towards a fix target on the ground. A joystick (27) is provided for manually redirecting the beam.
