The hook (8) has an inner space which is one compartment in which a rope is held freely. In its lower part there is a narrower groove (11) whose edges are parallel or have a V-shape open towards the top. The base (13) of the groove has a radius of curvature which is the same as the outer section of the rope. The rope slides in the groove and lodges in its base. During a fall the walls of the groove hold the rope by friction in its base.
