PURPOSE: To provide an elevator of group supervisory operation in which passengers need not wait long on a lobby floor before getting on a car, and in which passengers can get on the car efficiently. ;CONSTITUTION: A group control panel 16 determines if a current time is in a time zone for passengers to report for work, if a time call or a hall call is existing or not, and if a car exists on a lobby floor or the like. When the car is not existing on the lobby floor, an empty car 1a which is the closest to the lobby floor among empty cars is transferred. When the car is alread on the lobby floor, if the car is stand-by on a first stand-by floor adjacent to the lobby floor or not is determined, another empty car 2a is transferred to the first stand-by floor when it not stand-by, if the car is stand-by or not on a second stand-by floor adjacent to the first stand-by floor is determiend when it is stand-by, and an empty car 3a is transferred to the second stand-by floor when it is not. As the car 1a on the lobby floor departs, the empty car 2a on the first stand-by floor is transferred to the lobby floor.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
