PURPOSE:To improve simultaneous execution performance by applying jack groups which are provided in a machine body portion leaving a space in the circumferential direction to the front portion of segments and operating same, and propelling a shield excavator while executing the assembling of segment blocks. CONSTITUTION:Excavation is carried out by rotating the cutter head 2 of a shield excavator while shield jack groups 5 are applied to the front portion of assembled segments 10 and operated (extended), to control the propulsion and the propulsion direction of the shield excavator by the thrust of the jacks. During the excavation, the jack groups are controlled to be automatically inoperative (contracted) against a part of the segments 10 to execute the assembling of the segments one after another, making the synthetic thrust of the jacks a defined value while setting the direction of propulsion to control excavation. Thereby, the simultaneous execution of the shield excavation and the assembling of the segments 10 can be smoothly carried out.
